How to Get Around on 30A

Blog Home Page | Florida Vacations | How to Get Around on 30A

Whether you fly, drive, or walk to our beautiful section of the Emerald Coast along Florida State Road 30a, once you arrive, getting around is a breeze. The revolutionary design of the communities throughout the area, which were some of the first in the world to adhere to the principles of New Urbanism, ensures that major attractions are located within a reasonable distance. The community and our luxury vacation rental company also do an excellent job of ensuring that guests in the area should never have to drive once they reach their vacation rental (though it is certainly enjoyable to take a drive to view region’s gorgeous landscapes). So, when planning your next vacation in the area, these are the modes of transportation you can rely on to get to the beach, your local pool club, the community center, or anywhere else you might want to go!

Golf Carts on 30A

An incredibly popular way to get around, particularly for families, due to the convenience of driving longer distances, the versatility of driving both on the road and sidewalks, and the practicality of transporting multiple people at once, especially younger children who can’t ride a bike. Complimentary golf carts are available at many of our luxury vacation rentals, with sizes ranging from 4 to 6 seaters. Easily carry your things to the beach or go out to eat at your favorite Emerald Coast restaurant – anything is a possibility when traveling in a golf cart. If the vacation rental you book does not have a cart available or you would like an additional cart, we’ve partnered with the LiveWell Concierge service who would be happy to have a cart or anything else you need waiting at your luxury vacation rental when you arrive.

Bicycles on 30A

Another form of transportation that is complimentary at the majority of our luxury vacation rentals is bicycles. The 30A community is incredibly conducive to bicycle transportation due to its vast network of sidewalks, trails, and low speed roads. There is nothing quite like having the wind in your face as you pedal around and take in all of the breathtaking sights under the gorgeous Emerald Coast sun. Besides the classic ride to the beach, be sure to check out the Timpoochee and Eastern Lake Trails. The former is a 19-mile paved path that runs parallel to Florida State Road 30a, passing through famous beach communities like Seacrest as well as awe-inspiring scenery like the coastal dune lakes. The latter runs through Point Washington State Forest and offers different trail lengths of 3 miles, 5 miles, and 10 miles of gorgeous Florida wilderness.

Shuttles on 30A

Primarily available for areas that are a bit farther from the community centers, some of our homes offer complimentary shuttle services to popular community businesses and attractions. This is a great option for families with small children or senior guests who would prefer carefree access to the places they want to visit, without having to worry about the hassles that comes with driving a car (parking, traffic, etc). Keep in mind, these shuttles are typically limited to a certain period of the year, generally running from Memorial Day to Labor Day. So, if you are not visiting during the prime vacation season then you will need to arrange for other forms of transportation.

Walking on 30A

Of course, the previously mentioned revolutionary design of our communities make all of the major attractions within a reasonable walking distance. If you don’t mind a little extra exercise and are living your vacation on “beach time,” then take a stroll and discover some 30A secrets that can only be found on foot.
